Plesk Control Panel

Introduction

Webiness® employs Plesk Control Panel from SW Soft for it's hosting plans. Shared plans come standard with this powerful administrative tool and it is an option for Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated Servers. The program is very flexible, customizable and gives the user an easy and effective way to update their domain settings. The information below is just a small review of some of the most commonly used elements of Plesk.

DESKTOP

Once you have logged-in to your domain, you'll be taken to the DESKTOP screen. This is a customizable start page that is a one-stop shop for most of your domain needs. It has been designed to provide as much information as possible in a small space. Most users will find what they need in the standard settings, but if they are not listed, you may customize the links.

The PLESK NEWS section will give you updated information on the tool. In the above screen shot, the news section is closed but can be opened by clicking the "down arrow" button on the right side of the title bar.

The TOOLS section will provide links to the most commonly used features in the domain settings. This section is completely customizable. If a process is not listed that you regularly engage, then click the "Create a Custom Button ..." link at the bottom of the TOOLS section. Here's a list of what you can do from the TOOLS section of the DESKTOP page:

  • Create Mail Accounts
  • Configure Hosting On a Domain
  • Manage Files On Domain
  • Create an Autoresponder
  • Install a Site Application
  • Set Up a Domain Administrator's Account for the Domain

The STATISTICS section gives you a snapshot of your domain's usage. More detailed reports and statistics can be found on the Plesk Home Page - see information below.

The last section is called FAVORITES. This will keep track of the processes you use on a regular basis and provide quick links to them. Consider it a "most used" list of features.
